Ryan Garcia tests positive for banned PED after win over Devin Haney

Ryan Garcia’s victory over Devin Haney is now under scrutiny after Garcia tested positive for a banned substance, Ostarine, in a pre-fight test conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association. He also reportedly tested positive for another banned substance, 19-norandrosterone. Garcia has the option to request testing of his B-sample within 10 days. Despite his majority decision win over Haney, Garcia’s victory is clouded by the failed drug test. Haney, although defeated, retained his WBC super lightweight title as Garcia weighed in over the limit. Haney’s father expressed anger over the situation, while Garcia denied the allegations on social media, attributing the positive test to an ashwagandha root supplement. He maintained his victory was fair and questioned the timing of the allegations. Garcia’s career record stands at 25-1, but the repercussions of the failed drug test remain uncertain.
