The world’s oldest man, Juan Vicente Pérez Mora, passed away just weeks before his 115th birthday, according to Guinness World Records. Pérez Mora, born on May 27, 1909, in Venezuela, held the title since February 4, 2022, following the death of the previous oldest man, Saturnino de la Fuente García. He attributed his longevity to hard work, rest, early bedtime, daily aguardiente, and his strong faith in God. Pérez Mora, who had 11 children, 42 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren, lived a humble and devout life, working in agriculture since the age of 5 and serving as a sheriff for ten years. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and Governor Freddy Bernal paid tribute to him. Currently, Gerontology Research Group is determining the world’s new oldest living man, with contenders including Japanese Gisaburō Sonobe and Brazilian Josias de Oliveira. Confirmation of their birth dates is pending.
