The U.S. is helping Guyana because Venezuela is threatening to take part of its land. The U.S. will provide Guyana with planes, helicopters, drones, and radar technology. The exact cost isn’t known yet. U.S. officials recently visited Guyana to confirm the plan. This support is part of ongoing efforts by the U.S. to strengthen Guyana’s ability to defend itself. The aim is to help Guyana protect its borders from potential threats, particularly from Venezuela, which had earlier hinted at using force. Tensions between the two nations have eased somewhat after talks mediated by Brazil and Caribbean leaders. The U.S. had previously assisted Guyana during a tense period by providing surveillance and military advisors. Guyana’s president wants to buy helicopters, drones, planes, and radar systems from the U.S. to improve its defense capabilities and be ready for any future challenges.
