The Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) has expressed its disapproval of Ecuador’s plan to transfer Russian military equipment to the United States. According to an agreement between Moscow and Quito, such transfers to third parties without prior written consent from Russia are considered unacceptable. The FSMTC highlighted that this action by Ecuador would violate their bilateral cooperation agreement and international commitments. The statement emphasized the importance of maintaining positive relations, especially in sensitive areas like defense industry collaboration. Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa had previously announced the intention to trade older Russian and Ukrainian equipment to the US for new equipment valued at $200 million. The FSMTC’s objection suggests potential strains on the future collaboration between Russia and Ecuador.
