Kali Uchis has just scored her first-ever No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart with “Orquídeas” on January 27. It had the biggest sales week for her, selling 31,000 copies in the U.S. by January 18, according to Luminate. What’s cool is that 20,000 of those were vinyl sales, making it the best week for a Spanish-language album on vinyl since 1991. The album also snagged the top spot on the Vinyl Albums chart, became her first No. 1 on Top Latin Albums, and started at a career-high No. 2 on the overall Billboard 200.
Breaking down the 31,000 copies sold, 30,000 were physical copies (20,000 on vinyl, 10,000 on CD, and just a bit on cassette), while 1,000 were digital downloads. The album’s success was boosted by offering it in seven different vinyl versions and four CD editions. You could find exclusive versions at independent record stores, Target, Urban Outfitters, and the artist’s own webstore.
